Topic: When do I use the Aphogee keratin reconstructor? Posted: Feb 02 2012 at 7:56pm |

Do I use this before the deep condition or after? The packet says to use after you shampoo, wash it out, then style as normal.

The package is right. You do not have to do a deep conditioner after every wash. Plus if you DC after your reconstructor treatment, you will only rinse off more of the treatment. Just proceed to your leave in conditioner after the Aphogee and style as you normally would. Blessings!!!!!!!!!

I think it depends on how much your hair needs the protein. If you really need it then I would say don't DC or don't DC for too long because it will revert the treatment. If you are unsure then I would DC after and see how your hair feels after it's dried. Protein overloads are so hard to overcome.
But either way a moisture DC in general would come after a protein treatment.

This protein treatment is a mild one, so I would recommend not DCing afterwards, because the treatment is already so weak, you will only rinse off more of the protein treatment. If your hair is breaking and very weak, I say skip this product altogether. Go straight to the Aphogee 2-step which is the only one that binds to the hair strand effectively. All the other ones that do not contain hydrolyzed keratin protein are a waste of money. I have been using the Aphogee 2 step for 3 years and have never had any type of protein overload. Follow the instructions.

I agree with skipping the moisture DC. We're talking about the 2 minute reconstructor right? Many people dc afterwards but I rarely do. Just do what works for your hair :)
