Hi Ladies,
I can braid anybody elses hair but when it comes to my own, I totally suck at it. I try to keep my hair braided while I'm growing my hair out. Due to the economy (LOL) it's more cost effective for me to learn how to do it myself and not be at the mercy of teenagers, their schedules and their prices.

Can you give me some tips for doing it myself? I only need basic styles so I can do my hair applications and I'll need to take it down at least once a week so I can wash & DC. My hair is in good condition otherwise.

Thanks in advance!

my best tip is to keep practicing on yourself. Giving tips that may work for someone else may nto work for you.   Plus it is hard to explain.   For the front of my head --I sit in front of a mirror and do it.   It helps with the parting and neatness, etc. The rest is all hand placement, parting, etc.

I do my own hair all the time. parting is the hard part, I use two mirrors to part the back of my head, usually the one in the bathroom and a big moveable one positioned behind me. When braiding it you may have to feel around a bit but just go for it. You may even have to start over a few times. Best thing to do is practice on one section of your head for a while until you get the hang of it. It will come natural after you get it.
Life is short, live it the way you want to!!!!!!!!!!!
you go girl

If you have a three way mirror in the bathroom (the medicine cabinet that has a mirror in the middle and opens on each side), that will help out a lot if you want to see the back of your head.

It's been said already..I use a mirror for the front of my head, and the back while watching a movie..
If I worried about what you thought about me,it would be a grave misuse of my ME TIME....
