Topic: starting locks from long hair..? Posted: Jul 07 2010 at 9:39pm |
is it impossible to start locks from long hair?
my hair is a nappy kind of curly, although some of the curls are loose.
i previously texlaxed [still nappy curly, my hair is lightly texlaxed] and havent touched up in a while but will grow it out if it's possible to lock hair [in small sisterlocks] when it's already long.

You can loc your hair at any length. Sister locks. Braid locs or two strand twist would be your best option. Since your hair is so long. Get ready to pay a small fortune if you planing for sister locs. Good luck locs are awesome lol

will do (:
i just had one more question, and i know there's no clear cut answer but i'd appreciate a guesstimate..
approximately how long does it take for locs to harden?
idk if loc size is a factor, i want mine to be about half the width of a pen
and i know texture does, im 3b/3c with 4a on my edges

About 6 to 12 months for most. But some as early as 3. And some as late as 15. Just got to go through the motions and when it happens it happens. Patience is diffinately needed.

I started my locs with rope twist and latch the roots because of the length of m hair. it has been 2 weeks since I started but my twist have now come loose, at least some of them. How do I maintain it until my next appointment at the salon, considering that my root is locked but the twist has began to unravel? That won't be until the next 4 to 6 weeks.
