I ended up thinning the ends out and dipping in hot water, wearing it like that for a few days, then burning them. I like to change up over the course of the few weeks I wear them, so when I got tired of the long length I cut them shorter and re burned the ends.

Great job, I just did my first install last week. I used Kanekalon but I burned the ends, do you reccomend your method over burning? If so what are the benefits?

When I dip them in hot water they don't always seal :(. At the salon they always seal with a blow dryer. It's very effective and looks a lot better than burnt ends.

How do they seal with a blowdryer? I've never done that.

They put a towel on my back, straighten out the braids with their fingers and run the blower through the last couple of inches for a while on high. It doesn't look like it does anything but the ends do seal enough because my braids don't unravel after that.
