Topic: MASSIVE COLLECTION OF HOMEMADE HAIR RECIPES Posted: Feb 27 2011 at 3:15am |
In my house im known for creating home made hair products....i know what ingredients to use but i dont know which ones mix well soooooo i kinda just blend sh!t and hope it turns out ok lol
but im sick of doing that...i was hoping that WE, together, could create a one stop forum that has ALL the natural hair recipes instead of searching through random forums trying to finf one or two here or there
everyone PLEASE post ur hair recipes that u have tried...or heard of
PLEAAAAAASE only post recipes, links to recipes, or a link to another forum that has a massive collection of recipes WITHOUT a million pages of ppl just randomly chatting and not helping....
the goal is to make this like the best source of ONLY homemade recipes...like a cook-book lol....YEA im a bit of a dreamer but i hope this will work...help me???????

Ummm this section... that you posted in... has tons of recipes. lol. Not trying to be rude, but did you search through this section? It's full of recipes, and you don't have to look all over for them. They are right here, in this section of the forum. HTH
ETA: I love the hair in your avi, by the way.

i guess i didnt make myself clear....typically ppl would prefer to read one big a$$ organized cookbook instead of searching thru diff sources for diff recipes....its just more logical
plus i wanted a post without all the side conversation and strictly recipes...but i see thats not gonna happen

Lol probably not. **shrug** If you've ever seen the threads where people try to make it only pictures of gorgeous hair, it just can't ever seem to be done . Also, I don't mind the threads being in one section of the forum, the search function works for me; but I'm sure some people would prefer it your way as well.

I saw what you were trying to do, i had bookmarked this page but i just saw the name of the section, lol. Now if this was narural hair care or curls i would keep this bookmarked and push for it to be a sticky, but recipes is the entire goal of this section, lol

Icydove's Herbal Rinse 1 heaping tsp. of hibiscus 1 heaping tsp. of elderflower 1/2 tsp. of honey Add the herbs and honey to two cups of hot water. Let steep for about 5 minutes, and strain. Dunk ends in the mixture, then pour it over head. Rinse lightly to prevent the hibiscus from staining. TIP: Use the mixture while the water is still warm or the honey could stiffen hair. Use aloe vera gel and jojoba oil mixed together as a leave-in. mira-chan's Hibiscus Conditioner 3-4 flowers of hibiscus one tablespoon fenugreek seeds ( coarse powder or just crushed) 1 table spoon of arrowroot powder/ starch. Mix arrowroot powder with a little bit of cool water. Make a large mug worth of strong tea with hibiscus and fenugreek. Strain then add arrowroot. Allow to cool then use as a conditioning rinse. Kissedbyfire's Indian Herbal Wash/Condition 1 tablespoon neem 1 tablespoon shikakai 1 tablespoon aritha 1 tablespoon amla 1 tablespoon sandlewood 1 tablespoon brahmi 1 tablespoon hibiscus 2 tablespoon marshmallow root 1 cup tea (rosemary, chamomile, lavendar, etc.) Allow tea to simmer while mixing up the herbs. Add tea to herb mixture, mix well. Let cool to a warm temperature and apply. Start with an avc rinse, then dry hair. Apply mix to slightly damp hair and scalp, and massage. Let sit for an hour wrapped in a plastic bag. Rinse.

Hair Milk recipe: 2 teaspoons avocado butter 2 teaspoons olive butter 2 teaspoons shea butter 1 teaspoon grapeseed oil 1/3 cup distilled water 1 teaspoon emulsifying wax 3/4 dropperfull of Ginger Essence a few drops of Rosemary Growth Blend 5 drops Lemongrass Heat butters and oils for 1 minutes stir to finish mixing. Mix with blender Then slowly pour in water as mixing Mixture will be very watery at this point. Put in refrigerator for 10 minutes. It will thicken up. Take out and whip again. Then add essential oils Whip again and then add to bottle. Makes about 4 oz __________________ Cake Batter Butter (nice sub for Healthy Hair Butter - been tested!) 1/3 cup distilled water 1 teaspoon olive butter 2 tablespoons cocoa butter 2 tablespoons shea butter 5 teaspoons emulsifying wax 5 drops rosemary eo 7 drops lemongrass eo 15 drops coconut fragrance oil 3 drops ylang ylang eo Put the oils/butters and beeswax in a bowl - melt in microwave for about a minute. Stir to thoroughly mix. Start mixing with mixer and slowly pour in the water as mixing. (not all at once!) (the water and oil will be slighly separated at this point) Put in refrigerator for 10 minutes. Mix again with mixer. Add essential oils and mix once more. This will make about 6 oz of very thick hair butter that is not too greasy. It smells very herby like HHB and acts the same way. I would guess you could substitute the oils and butters for whatever you have on hand and you could probably substitute the emulsifying wax with beeswax. And of course, you can scent any way you want. __________________ Hair Butter (Moisturizer to use on hair not scalp) 4 oz of shea butter(unrefined)- melted in microwave... to which I added the following - 1 tablespoon of amla oil 2 tablespoons of coconut oil 2 tablespoons of olive oil 1 tablespoon of castor oil 1 tablespoon of almond oil 10 drops of rosemary oil 2 tablespoons of aloe vera oil I put it in the refrigerator to harden. Then take it out and let it come to room temperature. It should be nice and creamy(or if you prefer leave it hardened...works both ways). This is very rich so a little goes a long way. I only apply it to my hair. It works better than anything I purchased for moisturizing. Works great on damp hair. You can use more, less or different oils. Play around with it until you find what works best for you.

More hair recipes from blackhairmedia BANANA BUTTER 7oz Shea butter (Unrefined, straight from Africa) 4oz Aloe Vera Gelly (Clear, Fruit of the Earth brand from Target-I used this because it already has preservatives in it) 3oz Coconut Oil (this gives it a solid pomade texture) 2oz oil of your choice (I'm sure any oil will do but I used Banana flavored oil = Canola oil + banana flavoring) OPTIONAL: Drops of your fave EOs if you dont use a strong flavor oil First, I melted the Shea butter in a glass bowl set in boiling water. While that was melting I softened the coconut oil in the mic (not all the way to liquid) then I mixed it in a glass bowl with the Aloe gel and Banana oil with a wire wisk. When the Shea was fully melted I poured it in the Aloe/oil mix and broke out the cake mixer. I beat it on medium speed for about two minutes. Then I poured it into an empty plastic container that has an air tight lid. It didn't solidify overnight so I put it in the fridge for a coupla hours then set it out to get to room temp. This stuff mixed perftectly into a soft pomadey type butter (it looks sorta like dark yellow butter) and it has a delicious banana scent! It seems like it should be greasy at first touch, but it's actually very light, probably because I didn't use much heavy oils-It literally melts right into my skin and hair. Hair mask/DTpureed banana (discard the core with the seeds) blackstrap molasses plain yogurt EVOO a tbs of apple cider vinegar cornstarch in cold water rhassoul or bentonite clay slippery elm powder hot water Rosewater Process in a food processor. Apply to wet hair, heat cap for 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. Clay hair mask II Clay Slippery elm powder Grapeseed or your favorite oil Fenugreek water and more hot water as needed Deep conditioner Coconut milk honey cheapie conditioner coconut oil castor oil glycerin
