one of my friends wants me to loc his hair up, and I was thinking of doing it with mini twists. Does anyone know how well that works? what should I tell him to do once they start to get frizzy? I know when I have mini twists too long, my hair starts to get matted at the roots a bit. how would he be able to tighten that up? Thanks in advanced!!

Starting out with twists woulda been fine. Just palm tool, or interlock the roots as it grows out. Giiiirrrrlll there are so many threads about different ways of starting locs, maybe thats why no one came in here. Im sowwy

thanks! It's just that I tried looking but couldn't really find any posts on it...
but yeah, he wants the coils not the twists, he claimed they took to long to lock. I doubt coiling them would take a shorter amount of time, but I guess they would look more like locs than the twists. Either way, he'll cut his hair to do the coils so I'm fine with that.
Would it be hard to interlock coils? nad should I do that every two weeks?

I started my locs with rope twist and latch the roots because of the length of m hair. it has been 2 weeks since I started but my twist have now come loose, at least some of them. How do I maintain it until my next appointment at the salon, considering that my root is locked but the twist has began to unravel? That won't be until the next 4 to 6 weeks.
