Topic: Kinky Twists Unraveling..... Posted: Nov 08 2011 at 1:22am |
I am almost done with my second set of kinky twists - this is my fourth day twisting - and my ends keep coming undone on the twists that I have already completed. I want to leave the ends uncurled, but I want then to stay together.......what can I do to avoid having the twists unravel? It is taking me an excessive amount of time because I keep going back and retwisting ends!!!! I don't want the curly ends, but it seems that is the only way they stay..... Oh yeah, I used Freetress Equal Marley Braid hair. Thanks!!!!!

I would use beeswax or something of the like to get the twists to stay twisted

Try tying off the ends of a bunch of them and dip in hot water to seal. Post pichas too !!! lol im thinking about installing my own kiny twists and would like to know what hair would look the best. What method tdo you use to attach the braids, the loop and twits or splitting the hair in two and crossing?

Thanks Ladies! HaitianLuv.....I like the hair.....it is softer than the Femi brand I used for my first set a couple months ago. But next I will try some of the spring twist hair or some of the Freetress Afro Kinky Bulk hair.....I want fatter, softer twists. I used the the loop and braid/twist method. I saw the spliting method, but I haven't tried it. With the loop method, I can slid the extension up my own hair to get it closer to the scalp without gripping like they do at the braid shops......and I can control the tension and keep my edges!!!!! I have a hard time getting it close to the scalp, especially in short areas and the loop method is the easiest for me. And I will certainly post pics......hopefully tomorrow!!!!

How do I edit my original post?????? Well, here are some pics.....I ended up curling the ends.......*sigh* I banded my hair to prepare it - I am natural - but my hair straightened almost like it was flat ironed and i am having some slippage....so far none have come out and I am thinking of spraying it to make it curl back up.

This is off topic, but what does it mean when your hair keeps "poking" through the twists? I got mine done two days ago and it already looks a mess!

Emerald Lady.....I think you are having a blending issue.....you may not be able to tell from the pics.....but I had quite a bit of it, especially since I am natural and that twisting hair is harder than actual hair. The poking out can get worse if the hair gets wet, because it swells....the only thing I can recommend is maybe running some EcoStyler gel over the twists, mostly where it sticks out. That helps me. It may not be perfect, but helps.
