Topic: Indian hair vs Chinese Posted: Feb 19 2012 at 8:30pm |
For the last few months, I've been wearing chinese light yaki. I lile it, but I hate that it doesn't really hold a curl. I can get it to hold a curl, but there's a lot of work involved.
Anyways, I'm planning on buying like 2 or 3 wigs. I want one to be like a kinky curly, and another one to be a light yaki. So what texture would be best for both wigs? Does one hair texture tangle less than the other one?
thanks

From all the reading I've done the chinese light yaki is preferred over the indian however the draw back was that most chinese hair does not hold a curl well. The best solution was malaysian hair because it tends to act right during inclimate whether looks great as a light yaki and holds a curl well. From what I read indian hair has a tendency to swell especially when it's humid. Now as for the curlies good luck. I still got quite a bit of researching to do. HTH

OP, have you tried using flexirods on your CLY? The curls can stay for at least 2 days if you use a setting lotion like Lottabody and use a good hairspray afterwards. Otherwise, try to see if you can find a yaki bodywave as another option (member Carrie was looking for something like this recently). For curlies, I'm partial to Malaysian virgin remy, it's slightly less coarse than Chinese and doesn't poof as much as Indian. Choosing between Chinese, Indian, Malaysian, (Brazilian ) etc for curlies is a personal preference. If you prefer a coarser look, try Chinese virgin remy processsed to KC. There are some examples on Rex' site to give you an idea. Here's a few search results I found on Google for curlies. . . 1 post - 1 author - Oct 20, 2011 chinese, indian or malaysian virgin processed curly ... and of course one dayMalaysian hair, or shall I say- "MALAYSIAN" hair. ... I remember reading a thread on here where someone posted what a vendor sent to them about malaysian/brazilian etc hair, and the vendor basically said that there was only Indian & Chinese & the others were processed, so that's why I'm sticking with Indian & Chinese.
Creation, thanks for posting that link,I read that thread when I first became a member, but wasn't sure if they mentioned the air types.
Chatnoir, I washed my hair, sprayed it wit mouse, then curled it (it was still damp, but not dripping wet). After I curled each section, I clipped it up with pin curls. The curls have dropped, but it is still curly.
Anyways, I'm looking at the vendor's price list & their virgin 'malaysian' is only $10 more than virgin chinese. So maybe I'll try that. (after reading the threads)

@Idalis, glad that you've been able to curly your CLY. Chinese hair is very pretty once it's curled (and stays curled).
Yep Kevincn was the vendor who mentioned that there are only two types of hair, Chinese and Indian (the thread is posted above - "Public Service Announcement from Kevincn." I don't really mind what the hair is called, as long as it behaves as advertised, and we as consumers go in with our eyes open about all of these so-called exotic hair origins.

Idalis.. I'm sorry about that. I guess that thread was more of a basic informational thread. The poster that mentioned that Chinese doesn't hold a curl as well I remember being talked about not too long ago. As well as the exotic types of hair just being processed versions of chinese or indian. Totally sorry about that though!!
