Ecostyler gel, oil, and water work very well for me. My hair is smooth and slick but not hard.

OK. I just looked at a few twist out videos. I am surprised to see that I
do this when I make what I call my "African Crown". When it got close
to touch-up time, or when I was running late and didn't have time to
curl my hair, I would part my hair and do a two strand twist around the
edges. Then I twist the two ends together (letting the twists loosen a
little), and I put a barrette on to make a ponytail about a quarter inch
down. During the holidays, I wove ribbon into it, too. It doesn't look
as nice with all the natural new growth I have now,
even when I slather on the prostyle gel and edge control, So I don't do
it anymore.
When I take it down at the end of the day, I like the curl pattern, even
when I am combing it out, but it never lasted long enough to make
something of it.
I'm going to try it tonight with product (we'll see what I've got laying
around here) and see what happens. This may be what I have been looking
for!

If it curls like what's in your avatar, I'm willing to try it. Thanks!

Thanks girl!I love using the twistout to make my hair look shorter. And I went back, you're getting a spanking for calling your mom's hair "unruly". It looked great when you styled it, though! :) | Lol the top part is disrespectful and it does what it wants. She just washed it out today, the people at work said she looks younger
