Hi at some point in my life i stopped taking care of my hair and now its all jacked up, like i have some hair thats an inch short and some thats bra strap length. I started moisterizing and sealing my hair but i notice that my hair was breaking off (no white bulbs on the ends) so can someone please tell me what to do cause i think i need to either cut my hair mostly off :0( or just start a new routine that doesnt require me to cut most of my hair

Im a newbie myself but I frequent the site daily for research so I can offer a bit of input. I was also experiencing EXTREME breakage up until a week ago (literally) but after following the suggestions of the kind people on this board I've noticed that it's been reduced by 80-85%! If your hair is THAT uneven, I believe a cut would benefit you. Who wants hair that varies that greatly in length? By the time the 1 inch strands reach APL your other will be waist lenght (no offense) uneven hair happens but it should not be that extreme of a difference. They will be asking you for your regimen and maybe even for a list of products that you use so they can better assist you so you might as well go ahead on and post it to give them something to work off of. As for me, I have been scared of protein up until this point but I absolutely LOVE it now because it has saved my hair! I did a protein treatment at the suggestion of some members and it has help with breakage and tangles TREMENDOUSLY! They will def be a permanent part of my reggie. I used the aphogee 2 step treatment. Also, while combing the threads I discovered that my hair was porous so I bought a product that was greatly recommended on this site called Roux Porosity Control. Before using it, I noticed that my hair would dry/look VERY dry DIRECTLY after washing and it had a problem retaining moisture but now I don't have that problem either.

i had to come out of lurk mode for this. i really feel your pain. i had a friend who hid under wigs for three years and when we finally got the wig off her head she had APL hair under there. she also had major breakage due to not caring for her hair and the wig caps. so she had areas of 1 inch hair also. operation6 gave some good advice. if you dont want to cut it all, see if you can trim and hid the short areas. go to the newbie section and start building a good regimen. and take a deep breath....it will grow back maybe not tomorrow but it WILL!!!!! HTH

When I started my healthy hair journey I started using Aphogee products that targets mostly damaged hair. I used there whole product line and saw a huge difference in my hair but you have to be consistent with it.

Hi, my name is Natasha I'm a licensed cosmetologist. My advice would be to get a good hair cut! It may or may not be drastic depending on the amount of damange. Then follow with with a deep treatment "Moisture" is the key! Keep your self on a regimen it's all about consistency. As long as you continue regular trims and treatments your hair will make a turn around also form healthy habits (in regards to your hair). Even consider vitamins containing Biotin if not Biotin itself.

Coconut Oil and Extra Virgin Olive Oil are good for your hair. My girl deep conditions my hair every week and applies these oils to my hair every other day.
