You can do it on dry hair just spray a lil spritz and serum on your hair( serum so its not hard) and you should be good. I sucked at it at first until I found out I was doing it wrong. I even use to use a whole bunch of flexi rods now I just use a few to get the curl pattern I want and it last for days.

i use two purple flexi rods at night. I split my hair in two and roll each side up in one rod.  (Kind of looks like Princess Leia), wrap it up with a scarf so the top is flat and put on a bonnet.  Saves so much time in the morning!

Thanks for posting this. I too have been suffering from the frayed straight ends.  I will try the setting lotion and rolling vertical tonight.

I kinda skimmed thru the posts and didnt look at the vid, but not sure if any said to curl your hair first and then put in the flexi-rod right after you curl each piece. I do the ALL the time on QHP hair and then roll and the curls lasts for days!! I use the small grey, med purple and large red ones.....Besides using my wand, this is the only way i curl my hair.....

Good Luck OP

ETA: I wrap my hair around the rod then roll the rod down. Those straight ends reminds me of what my cosmo teacher would call fish tails....If you still have them and have not squared away your rolling process, use rolling papers. And I dont use ANY PRODUCT on my hair.

Did you use setting lotion? For such a coarse texture I would definitely recommend using setting lotion, KS is not a texture that I would do a dry roll on.

IMO dry rolls work best on straight hair that is wavy/curly in its natural state.
Girl don't worry about your hair or those tracks, I don't give a damn bout that.
