I've been working out with the goal of losing 10-15 pounds...I haven't lost weight and Ive been consistently working out for 2 months. Im noticing less 'jiggle'..but not that smaller number I was hoping for on the scale. I found this article helpful in explaining why.

What are you eating, that is 75% of the battle?
Are you one of those people who do a slow stroll on the treadmill?
Do you reward yourself with a cinnabon with extra frosting after leaving the gym?

Not saying you do any of the above things but most people who say they are working out and not losing weight are being dishonest somewhere. I workout and I lose weight my sister works out with me but inhales Ben and Jerry, guzzles down grape crush and dips her french fries in ranch and ketchup. Then she complains that she is not losing weight and she tired of Tae-Bo.

I barely glanced over the article but even if that was the case that is the exception and not the norm.

Maybe you haven't been working hard enough and not eating less. Or it could be something else. How old are you?

You are so right. There's this youtuber name egiggles79 and while I like her videos, she really shouldn't have been questioning why she didn't lose weight for a few reasons. This chick was eating like 2,000 calories a day while still eating mcdonalds and every other fast food she could name. And, on a few days, she even went to a buffet or just ate up a lot of crap that was well over 2,000 calories. And, throughout this whole time she claimed she was on a "diet". Then, when the month was over, she posted a video saying she was going to quit the diet and was actually mad cause the scale stayed the same. I didn't want to be rude so I didn't say what I really thought----which was "I'm surprised you didn't GAIN weight". Some people really have no idea how to diet and now I see why they have things like "e-diet", "weight watchers", "Jenny Craig" etc. cause people really don't know what to put in their mouths and how much.

Excercise isn't supposed to make you thin though. It's supposed to keep your body in shape.. reduce fat and build muscle, energy levels, stamina etc.  Not eating makes you thin.. it also makes you weak but thin none the less.

If you want to lose weight, you definitely have to exercise and eat a proper diet so that your muscle becomes a fat burning machine which reduces your mass index.

if all a person does is work out and still chows down on the same amount of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese of course they're not going to lose weight.. instead they're going to bulk up.

OP have you lost any inches on your midsection, arms and legs since you began working out? do your clothes fit differently?

I didn't read the article, but weight loss happens in the kitchen. Counting calories, eating less sugar (sodas, juices, candy, pastries, pastas, cheeses, etc), and picking foods that keep you full longer (whole grains, veggies, lean meats) will help you lose weight. Exercising and eating right will get your body right faster, but the bulk of weight loss happens with the right food choices.
