I feel your pain its so sad that companies frown upon locs. My hair is not doing the job my hands and brain are following orders. I understand the wig situation there are not to many options of nice wigs. For lace fronts I can't stand the lace, can't put them on, and on top of that over my budget for now. I had an allergic reaction to a mommy wig I purchased lol that did it for me started my braidlocs. Now with the ugly stage I'm going to need something so a wig may suffice. I say go in there with a wig once they give you the rules and regulations handbook there should be info on hairstyles in the workplace if not ask. I asked my human resources department they are fine like I said my roots are nasty lol right now so I want to cover it up. I'd play the game for now when you get the job start start asking questions

OP-I'm going to be honest and suggest that you do your interviews with a wig. Locs are becoming more acceptable but it's usually the ones that can be "tamed". I got job teaching with an MBA program while having baby locks, but I was lucky that my hair was long enough to pull back into a ponytail. Maybe you could try a braid-out with a headband?
Another factor to consider is to make the rest of your attire as conservative as possible. Nude polish on nails, well-applied natural looking make-up etc.

I have to agree about the attire. My locs are right above my shoulder and look relatively "tamed" but I'm particularly mindful about my attire which is more conservative than what I've worn at other jobs. I've gone to some meetings looking more professional than my Executive Director!

when i went to interviews early in my loc process, i wore a wig. i live in cincinnati, which is pretty conservative so there was no question about me and wigging it out. i will be honest and say that once the wig did come off, the attitude of a few of my coworkers did change. i didnt care thiugh, i already had what i needed.
